CBIA: Reaction to Malloy State of State
The following is a press release issued Wednesday following the state of the state address by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy
It is not edited here:
"The business community welcomed Governor Dannel P. Malloy's call today for state lawmakers to work together and focus on job growth and economic development during the 2013 General Assembly session.
"We support the Governor's statement that this legislative session must be guided by the core principle of getting people back to work," said John R. Rathgeber, president and CEO of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association.
"Governor Malloy noted that a lot of tough decisions must be made in the coming months, and he's absolutely right - we cannot put off making difficult decisions."
Rathgeber said the Governor acknowledged several key areas that needed to be addressed, including solving the state's fiscal problems, implementing last year's education reforms, and enacting a comprehensive energy strategy.
"The Governor's asking lawmakers to work together in a bipartisan way," Rathgeber said. "And that's critical if we're going to successfully address the state's fiscal and economic challenges."
CBIA will release its 2013 legislative and regulatory agenda at a media briefing scheduled for 11 am Thursday, January 10 in Room 2600 at the Legislative Office Building.
Members of CBIA's Government Affairs team will be available to discuss policy issues and the 2013 General Assembly session."
