Hanging Shad: Rowland should shut up

The Hanging Shad, in its response to former Gov. John Rowland's call for the DSS commissioner's resignation, says Rowland should simply shut up.

The problem with the Hanging Shad, and this blog, and the countless other blogs on the Internet, is, "Who gives a rat's ass what Patrick Scully (or, insert writer's name here) thinks?"

Blogs are free and open to anyone -- anyone. Doesn't matter if they know what they are talking about or not, they can start a blog and write whatever they want. That doesn't mean the material is worth reading.

If you have a blog written by a left-winger, chances are everything will be slanted left; the same is true for blogs written by right-wingers.

Simply put, blogs are nothing more than self-serving digital masturbation tools so that the writer can feel important and whoever links to the blog can consider themselves "informed."

Here's a thought for the NHR and everyone else:

Who, what, where, when, why and how. That's it. If I want to read opinion, I'll go to the op/ed page. I don't, however, because I don't care what other people think. I don't care what people on Facebook think, I don't care what people on Twitter think.

I care about facts.

NHR, others: Work on presenting facts, not bullshit. I know bullshit is cheaper, but there's a reason for that.

To the anonymous author of the above comment:
Please note that you will not find any opinion pieces here, unless they have been curated from other sites for informational purposes.
We are trying to give you the 5 Ws as clearly as possible. If, at some point, you do see an opinion piece, rest assured that it will have been vetted by the New Haven Register's editors.
We do invite your opinions, though, so feel free to post here, comment at NewHavenRegister.com, to call me at 203-789-5695 or to send me an email at jfenster@nhregister.com
Thanks,
Jordan Fenster
